Brisbane Wedding | Christie + Mark

Well October is shaping up as being one of the wetest on record here in brisbane. But not even the rain can stop some of the fantastic weddings we have had lately.

Christie and Mark were married during one of the recent wet weekends, but they certainly didn’t let it  dampen their special day. Their ceremony took place at the broadway chapel in Woolloongabba and was authorised by the wonderful Anne Campbell who held a heartwarming beautiful ceremony for Christie & Mark.

We then braved the rain and went to a few locations for some quick photos before making our way to the reception at The Landing Dockside.

There were so many great details at the reception:

Talk about troopers! Christie and Mark braved the weather again for a romantic night shoot in the rain!

House of Laurels Maleny Wedding | Annie + Kerrin

I was recently up at Maleny photographing the wedding of Annie & Kerrin at the House of Laurels.

As we drove up the the hills towards Maleny, through the thick fog, we thought we may have a little bit of interesting weather today.

But the weather cleared as we made our way to Annie and the girls and the (correct!) decision was made by Annie and Kerrin to take the gamble and have the ceremony out in the garden.

The moving ceremony went off without a hitch and we then went to a few locations nearby for some bridal party fun. We finished up in a paddock with some amazing afternoon light followed by one of the best rainbows I have ever seen. We then all scrambled to the cars as the rain started really poring down. Thanks Annie for being such a sport out in the paddock & dodging the many cow pats! :)

For the photographers out there… This was my first wedding with the all new Nikon 85mm 1.4G AFS. It is one awesome lens with a great look. I have included a note above the images that I took with it and at what aperture.

A certain AFL grandfinal rematch just happened to also be on that day.. Kerrin’s dad was keeping updated :)

There was quite a deal of tears and laughter during the ceremony

How is this for a rainbow!!

The colours were so intense!

Very shortly after, the heavens opened and we had to dash to the cars

Some reception details;

Glengariff Dayboro Wedding | Lauren + Matt

I traveled up to Dayboro recently to photograph the wedding of Lauren and Matt.

Their ceremony and reception was held at the picturesque Glengariff estate, which has a great view of the Dayboro valley.

Following the ceremony the guest had drinks and canapes on the lawn while we walked around the grounds and had some fun. We then made our way back up to the homestead to start the nights festivities.

Lauren & Matt’s dog wanted a bit of the limelight too..

Our Lady of Victories Wedding | Viola + Matt

Way back when I photographed Viola and Matt’s engagement shoot, I knew their wedding day was going to be awesome. And it didn’t disappoint.

Their ceremony was held in probably one my favourite churches in Brisbane: Our Lady of Victories in Bowen Hills. It has so much character and an amazing view over Newstead  and the river.

Following the ceremony we headed around town for some fun and then made our way to the reception which was held at The Landing at Dockside.

I love the way Matt looks at Viola

Cathedral of St Stephen Wedding | Helen & Micheal

Helen and Micheal’s wedding was a lot of fun to photograph. You could just tell  that everyone on the day was up for a good time.

The day started with Micheal at home with the boys ( and two cute dogs!). It was then off to Helen who was getting ready at the Marriott in the city.

The ceremony took place in the majestic Cathedral of St Stephen in the city. We then took a little tour around town with the bridal party for photos before finishing up at the Marriott for the reception.

The festivities kicked off at the reception with the whole bridal party dancing on entry and then everyone hitting the dance floor. They also had one the most amazing Candy Bars I have ever seen (/tasted  :)    ).

I also want to give a big shout out to Santo and the crew at Paper Cranes Productions. They were a blast to work with on the day and if you ever want one of the best wedding cinematographers in Australia to video your day, give them a call.

I loved Helen’s Shoes

I got lucky with a guest’s flash going off as I tripped the shutter

We also had some photobooth fun!

Newcastle Destination Wedding |Ashley + Nathan

I love shooting in new and different locations and recently I had this opportunity when I photographed the wedding of Ashley and Nathan down in Newcastle.

Both were originally from Newcastle but have since settled in Brisbane. So they thought it fitting to have their special day down in their home town amongst close family and friends.

Both Ashley and Nathan have strong family ties and it was lovely to capture this closeness throughout the day. It was also a pleasure to capture the close bond between this great couple. As you will probably notice in the photos below, we had a lot of fun throughout the day.

Ashley wore a gorgeous Darb dress

The look on Dads face seeing Ashley in her dress for the first time:

Nathan and the boys got ready at Ashley’s Grandfather’s home.

Which conveniently was right across the road from the church

Laura the Flowergirl/ring bearer did a great job

I loved shooting at the old buildings in downtown Newcastle

Did I mention that we had a spectacular day

Once the sun had set there was this beautiful soft glowy light down near the old swimming baths

Brisbane Wedding | Vicki + Quang

I have been really looking forward to photographing Vicki and Quang’s wedding. I love when I get the opportunity to photograph and experience weddings from different cultural backgrounds to my own.

The day started at the busy home of Quang as he and the boys prepared for the up coming Tea ceremony. The house was bursting with excited and happy family who gathered to then make their way to Vicki’s home for the start of the ceremony.

Following the fireworks and the gift giving, everyone gathered inside for the Tea ceremony.

After the tea ceremony it was then time for a quick change for Vicki into her gorgeous wedding gown and then off to start the western ceremony.

We then had some fun around town during the location shoot before heading to the always impressive Landmark restaurant in Sunnybank for the Reception/Party.

The food and entertainment flowed throughout the night with dancing performances and some rather interesting games :)

The boys thought that the photograph needed some added drama..

Some of the dancing and game hightlights

I love how busy this image is!

Bretts Wharf Wedding | Alissa + Chris

The day finally came around for the wedding of Alissa & Chris.

Amazing afternoon light shone through the stain glass windows of the Brisbane Grammer School great hall during their ceremony.

The bridal party then headed off to Newstead park for photos before continuing on to the reception held at Bretts Wharf restaurant at Hamilton.

Some details from the awesome reception:

Colonial Golf Course Wedding | Cassandra + Aidan

The Colonial Golf course down at the Gold Coast was the venue for one of our latest weddings. The fun loving Cassandra and Aidan recently tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony by the lake. The whole day had a fun vibe, and this flowed on to the beach where we went for photos following the ceremony. And the fun theme definitely continued well into the night with some outrageous dance moves and photobooth hi jinx.

Some Reception Details
The dancing was definitely “Off the Hook”

Fun is always had at the photobooth!!

Alissa + Christopher e shoot

Another recent shoot that was heaps of fun was Alissa & Christopher’s engagement session at the botanical gardens in the city. Once again mother nature played nice and provided us with some awesome afternoon light.
