Parliament House Wedding | Julia + Mark

Getting close to Christmas now, but still many things to blog!

First up is the wedding of Julia and Mark, who were married at Our Lady of Victories Church in Bowen Hills.

The day was a little dark and stormy, but Julie and Mark didn’t let that affect them. They were both super excited and glad to be finally having their big day.

Their reception was held in the beautiful Strangers dining room within the QLD Parliament building, complete with a great Christmas tree to suit the festive season.

Puss kept a close eye on proceedings..

Brisbane Wedding | Susan + David

I had only met Susan and David for the first time in person a few days before their wedding day. But I felt that I knew them pretty well already from our many email and skype conversations. They live in the UK now but chose their home town of Brisbane for their wedding so that they could have as many family and close friends with them for their special day.

They chose to have their wedding ceremony in the relaxed setting of New Farm Park. Following the ceremony, everyone enjoyed the afternoon with drinks and live music in the park. Susan and David really wanted their day to be a fun relaxing afternoon amongst their friends.

We did manage to sneak away for a quick photo shoot in the park and surrounds before heading to the reception also held at the nearby Watt restaurant at the Powerhouse.

Susan had a stunning Vera Wang dress

Many of Susan’s close friends made the trip down from the UK and were there in the morning to calm any nerves

I loved Dave’s Spirit level cuff links

Personal Work – Vegas and a New York state of mind.

Back in March I was fortunate to have the opportunity to go over to America to attand WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers
International convention). Following the convention a few fellow brisbane photographers headed over to New York where we spent a week photographing the sights of one of the best cities in the world. Below is a selection of my personal work from that trip that I thought I would share.

Most are Black and White as I felt that that medium best reflected the mood (and weather) at the time. I hope you like them.

Sam & Maggie | Brisbane city wedding

After the awesome E-Shoot we did with Sam & Maggie, both Steve and I were super excited to shoot their wedding.

We started off with the boys before heading across to the girls for the getting ready shots and then into the Latrobe Chapel in Paddington for a very uplifting Ceremony. It was lovely to see the family & friends attending really enjoy and embrace Sam & Maggie’s ceremony with even the best man playing some songs to the couple to help celebrate.

After the ceremony we walked down to a Paddington Antique store.  It was so much fun exploring all the interesting pieces in the store and Sam and Maggie really did look in their element. After the Antique Store we ducked over to Kelvin Grove before onto the Reception at Mirra at Fortitude Valley for the reception.

Mirra is an exciting new venue with an awesome decor and great atmosphere, perfectly suited to Maggie and Sam. Brilliant little touches were added throughout the venue by Sam & Maggie: from an engagement canvas in the entrance, a quote from the day on removable stickers on the floor, amazing table decorations and atmospheric lighting… the place looked and felt amazing.

Congratulations again Sam and Maggie.

Some of the great reception details:

Bernadette + Grant

Getting quite behind in our blogging again… very naughty I know..

To make up for it we will be blogging two more weddings today and more to come shortly.

First up is Bernadette and Grant who were recently married at the Botanical Gardens in the city with their reception at the Bardon Conference Centre.

We could not stop these two from laughing the whole time of the shoot which made it a lot of fun for us!

After the ceremony which included a butterfly release where the butterflies were quite keen to stay with Bernie & Grant, we went for a wander through the uni and the Gardens before heading on to the reception.

Damaris + Nathan | Townsville Destination Wedding

I quite enjoy when I get the opportunity to shoot in places outside of my regular Brisbane, Gold Coast, Noosa region. Recently I flew up to Townsville to photograph the wedding of Damaris (Dee) and Nathan.

The ceremony was held in a beautiful grove at Queens Gardens. We then had a lot of fun driving around Townsville in beautifully restored American muscle cars and taking in the sights.

We then made our way to the reception where it was obvious that Dee and Nathan had put in so many personal touches to make the evening special for their guests. From a fully stocked Candy Bar, to an online web hookup to Vietnam so that Dee’s best friend could be part of the festivities.

I loved Nathan’s Lego cuff links :)

Some reception details

Kristie + Peter | Hillstone Wedding

I had the pleasure recently to photograph the wedding of Kristie and Peter. Kristie is the sister of another past bride Carly so it was a lot of fun to be involved with the family again.

The ceremony was held at Hillstone in St Lucia, we then took a quick trip to the University for photos before heading back to Hillstone for the reception festivities.

Mothers Day Promotion

Brooke & Joshua

Brooke & Josh were recently married at the beautiful Nudgee College Chapel. The day started with lots of rain. But fortunately stopped following the ceremony and  the location shoot, thank you Mother Nature!

Brooke is a dressmaker and made her own gown, the bridesmaids & the flowergirl’s dress – the flowergirl’s dress alone took days and days with 17 meters of tulle so I daren’t ask how long her gorgeous wedding dress took. Brooke did a magnificent job though as everybody looked wonderful.

Josh, whilst he didn’t make his own suit, he did send Brooke on a hunt for pink socks for all the boys, it was great having some color “pop” out every now and then when least expecting it!

As you can probably tell from the images, Brooke and Josh have fun, vibrant personalities and it was great capturing their enjoyment of the big day.

A special thanks to Kate Beuchner for her fantastic help on the day.  Kate, you rocked it!
